One of the main objectives of the SLRC will be the training of a new generation of scientists whose knowledge may be channeled into the aquaculture industry or the supporting industry to facilitate development of new products and methods for lice control.

The localization  at HIB will promote an exciting, innovative and intellectual milieu for students, scientists and visitors alike. The educational program for these scientists/researchers will encompass all phases through to commercialization of products. The SLRC will host and provide PhD candidates, post-doctoral fellows and research personnel inter- and multi-disciplinary as well as inter-sectoral (academia-industry) training through its research and industrial partners whose expertise cover main areas in the aquaculture sector.

 The SLRC will arrange international research courses within the competence fields of the centre.
